the Divine Feminine, and the Birth of the Solar Body

When awareness (Father Spirit) kisses matter (Mother Earth), existence flowers—and consciousness wakes as a golden child within.

Opening the Gate of Mother

The Essene words of communion with the Holy Mother state:

Earthly Mother, my body is one with your body. I will walk softly on your flesh… I will be kind to animals… I will help the Earth become once again a garden paradise.

These sacred words are an affirmation, a promise to honour the quality of matter (mater/mother), and all that we're able to witness and experience due to "her" influence.

To practice “Mother Earth Yoga” (Yihud im Em Erets) is to actually live the vow: defend the garden, be gentle with creatures, eat in a way that heals, and remember -- bone to bone, breath to breath -- that our physiology is braided to the planet’s.

In Essene cosmology, Mother is Matter - Mater - the luminous substance of existence; and Father is the unmanifest, the spacious “not-this,” the still field.

Mother as Mater, Father as Spirit

  • Mother (Mater / Matter): the fecund, rhythmic, birthing field—soil, seasons, bodies, time, lunar pituitary substance of the sacred secretion cycle.

  • Father (Spirit / the Unmanifest): spacious awareness, the silent source, pineal substance of the sacred secretion cycle.

Some teachers poetically call the Father “anti-matter.” Take this as metaphor, not physics: a way to name the unmanifest that balances and penetrates the manifest. In this view, all existence --from leaf-vein to lung -- arises where Spirit meets Matter. The Essene vow simply makes that union conscious.

The Tender Mother Within: Pia Mater

Anatomically, pia mater is the delicate, innermost membrane that lovingly drapes the brain and spinal cord. It hugs every fold, carries nourishing vessels, and partners with cerebrospinal fluid (Christ Oil) to cushion, bathe, and steady the nervous system. What a name: tender mother.

ree

As a contemplation, let pia mater be your inner icon of mothering -- a reminder that life’s most refined alchemy happens through intimate care, not force. When you breathe kindly, rest well, eat clean plants from clean soil, and move with reverence, you literally comfort the “tender mother” that tends your thoughts, moods, sleep, and perception.

Micro-practice (2 minutes):

Sit tall. Imagine a soft veil lining your brain and spinal cord.

Inhale: visualise cool dew bathing the veil.

Exhale: Feel your weight flowing into the ground.

Whisper inwardly, “Tender Mother, thank you.”

Scripture’s Feminine Thread

Adamah + Breath (Genesis 2:7)

“Adamah” means ground/earth. The human is shaped from soil and animated by divine breath --matter receiving spirit. The body belongs to Earth; its living spark belongs to God. Union births a person.

Sophia / Chokhmah (Proverbs 8)

Wisdom is personified as a woman beside God “before the world.” She rejoices in creation and guides just action -- feminine insight as the pattern that makes life coherent and good.

Mary, Theotokos

Theotokos means “God-bearer.” Mary’s consent (“let it be”) mothers the Word into flesh, revealing matter as sacrament -- creation capable of carrying, feeding, and revealing the Divine.

Sakti & Prakrti

Sakti is the vibrant power of the Absolute; Prakrti is nature’s living fabric. Without Mother, Father remains unexpressed; without Father, Mother lacks witness. Their embrace is the world appearing.

Inner Currents: Ida, Pingalā, and the Solar Body

Within the subtle body, breath and attention move along two main streams:

  • Ida (left, lunar, cooling, feminine): receptive, nurturing, reflective—related to intuition and rest.

  • Pingala (right, solar, warming, masculine): clarifying, animating, discerning—related to vitality and action.

ree

When Ida and Pingala are imbalanced, we swing between lethargy and agitation, collapse and compulsion. When they kiss and harmonize, attention naturally settles in the central channel (Sushumna).

This is the inner hieros gamos -- the sacred union -- where the “solar body” is conceived: an integrated, luminous presence born from Mother Matter and Father Spirit in the temple of your flesh.

Think of the solar body as the golden child of your practice: steady warmth, clear seeing, effortless compassion. It’s not an escape from earth but the ripening of earth and heaven together.

Practices of Mother Earth Yoga

1. AFFIRMING COMFORT

Speak tenderness into being. Declare:“I am nurtured, I am nurturing and I am supported.”

2. GROUNDING WITH THE MOTHER FORCE

Stand barefoot on grass, soil or sand. Breathe deeply and focus on the subtle charge rising up through the earth into the soles of your feet and beyond.

GROUNDING BENEFITS
  1. Calming the nervous system (HRV & vagal tone). A growing body of small trials and reviews suggests that being electrically grounded can shift autonomic balance toward parasympathetic “rest-and-digest,” reflected in heart-rate variability (HRV) changes—i.e., a calmer baseline.

  2. Smoother blood flow (lower viscosity). Grounding increases the red-blood-cell zeta potential (surface charge) and reduces aggregation (clumping) -- changes that lower blood viscosity and help microcirculation.

From List to Life

"A practice that stays on a list is poorly named."

Essene Proverb

To be Essene in name is one thing; to be Essene in movement is another. The Essene Yogi is simply the one who practices -- who lets Mother and Father meet in breath and bread, garden and calendar, bone and river. Chant, sing or give praise and gratitude to the divine mother, take 5 minutes to breathe mindfully, plant something living, protect what is fragile. That is Mother Earth Yoga.

Join us this week for “Yoga with Joy” at 9pm GMT, an integrative practice that connects the masculine and feminine aspects of your inner spirit and alchemy (biochemistry).

Through postures, mantra (vocal manifestations), and breath work (pranayama), we’ll honour the earthly mother and cultivate the inner wedding of bliss.

That's 9pm GMT on my YouTube channel "Kelly-Marie Kerr"
